Mammography - is the process of using low-dose X Rays to examine the human breast. The goal of mammography is the early detection of breast cancer, typically through detection of characteristic masses and/or micro calcifications. Mammography has been shown to reduce mortality from breast cancer. No other imaging technique has been shown to reduce risk, but breast self-examination (BSE) and physician examination are essential parts of regular breast care. Here at Washington County Hospital we are ACR accredited location with a board-certified Radiologist (Montogomery Radiology-MRA.)

Mammography services offered:

    - Diagnostic Breast Ultrasound
    - Same day results on diagnostic mammograph and breast ultrasound.

Bone Densitometry - is a test like a CT scan that quickly and accurately measures the density of bone. It is used primarily to detect osteopenia or osteoporosis, diseases in which the bone's mineral and density are low.

Medical Sonography (Ultrasonography) - is an ultrasound-based diagnostic medical imaging technique used to visualize muscles, tendons, and many internal organs, their size, structure and any pathological lesions with real time. Ultrasound scans are performed by medical health care professionals called sonographers. Ultrasound has been used to image the human body for at least 50 years. It is one of the most widely used diagnostic tools in modern medicine.

(Echocardiogram) Adults and Pediatrics - Just a Heartbeat away. Echocardiography is the main tool for heart abnormality detection. GE Ultrasound uses 2D imaging and quantification tools to help doctors answer the major questions related to heart in adults and pediatrics.

Vascular Ultrasound - Don't let anything block your way, Vascular ultrasound is the general term for a non-invasive painless test that uses high-frequency sound waves to image blood vessels including arteries and veins.

    - Lower extremity venous ultrasound is typically performed if a clot in the vein (deep venous thrombosis or DVT) is suspected. The veins in the legs are compressed and the blood flow is assessed to make sure the vein is not clogged. This test is also used to look for chronic venous insufficiency, or leaky valves in the veins which may cause swelling or edema.
    - Lower extremity arterial ultrasound may be performed in patients with peripheral arterial disease (PAD), particularly for planning an endovascular procedure or surgery. It is also used after the procedure to monitor stents and grafts for signs of the blockage returning ("restenosis"). If a hematoma develops after a catheterization procedure, arterial ultrasound is also used to check the integrity of the arteries and veins in the groin

Computed tomography (CT)- is a medical imaging method employing tomography. Digital geometry processing is used to generate a three-dimensional image of the inside of an object from a large series of two-dimensional X-ray images taken around a single axis of rotation. The word "tomography" is derived from the Greek tomos (slice) and graphein (to write). At Washington County Hospital our GE 64-slice CT scanner is in house and is ready to use 24 hours a day 7 days a week.  This is the same technology as you will find in Mobile or Montgomery but its right at home.

Diagnostic Radiology - As a medical specialty, radiology can be classified into two subfields. Diagnostic radiology is concerned with the use of various imaging modalities to aid in the diagnosis of disease.
We have a board certified radiologist from Montgomery Radiology to read our images and aid in the diagnosis process.
Our radiology services are offered early morning or late evenings with 24 hours, 7 days a week of E.R. support. Appointments available anytime and radiology exam reports are available within 24 business hours. Electronically send your report to your doctor at the time of appointment.
